Large-area information or advertising displays are generally based on energy-intensive LCD or (O)LED light emission. PROFACTOR is researching electrowetting technologies together with six international project partners in the e-Paper wall project. The aim is to implement highly energy-efficient display solutions. Electrical energy should only be required for switching the image information on the display. Energy consumption to maintain the content should be minimal. PROFACTOR is dedicated to the following challenges in research:

  • Cost-effective production of large-area microfluidic structures using roll-based nanoimprint lithography
  • Development of an All-in-One UV Imprintresist
  • Development of a transparent conductor material for inkjet printing
  • Cost-effective production of large-area reflector structures also using roll-based nanoimprint lithography

The project will demonstrate feasibility using a 50 x 24 cm² research module. The aim is to lay the foundation for a later up-scaling of the technology up to the order of 24-sheet poster walls.
