PROFACTOR takes research results to their industrial application. We are the experts for mechatronic systems, and we combine sensor and actuator systems. This ranges from active noise and vibration suppression up to fine-positioning and precision deformation, from energy production (“Energy Harvesting”) up to early damage detection (“Structure Health Monitoring").

Our Solution:
Active Methods for Noise and Vibration Suppression

We have developed technologies to reduce the broadband structure-borne noise of machines and their components. The structure or air borne noise is recorded using sensors, and with the aid of this information, counter-vibrations are generated in real time through suitable actuators.  The noise or vibration level can be lowered in many cases by up to 20 dB.

Active Fine Positioning and Precision Deformation

One key competence at PROFACTOR is knowledge of the application and potential of piezo-elements. They are at the heart of our solutions for high-precision positioning/deformation, and combine classical machine building and revolutionary information technology.  These highly dynamic mechatronic systems open up completely new quality dimensions in the production process.

Our Solution:
Energy Harvesting and Structural Health Monitoring

Piezoelectric materials make it possible to convert mechanical vibrations into electric energy (Energy Harvesting), and thereby the self-sufficient supply of electronic systems for early damage detection (Structural Health Monitoring). The aim is to obtain clues regarding the functional performance of components and machines continuously and online. That way, damage can be detected at an early stage and countermeasures can be taken.
