Optimisation of Parameters to Increase Tool Life
In many years of working together with Böhler Edelstahl GmbH in Kapfenberg, PROFACTOR has established optimum machining parameters for a great variety of materials, which are fed into the development of the materials. Böhler Edelstahl also provides knowledge of the properties, heat treatment and application possibilities as well as optimum machining parameters to users of tool steels or special materials.
PROFACTOR performs machining tests to determine the cost-optimised machining parameters for steels that are mainly new developments. This might involve high speed cutting (HSC), high performance cutting (HPC) or conventional technologies, during which practical solutions are always investigated that are suitable for the expected applications. The manufacturing technologies under review are rough milling, finish milling, drilling to a depth of 5x the bit diameter, deep hole drilling with a depth of approx. 30 x the bit diameter (30 x D), and thread cutting.
