Machining Technologies for New Materials

Reduction of energy and fuel consumption in the automotive and aerospace industries is often addressed by designers using materials of higher strength but lower weight. Even material combinations, like aluminium and magnesium for example, contribute to saving resources.

Newly developed materials, like titanaluminide alloys and composite materials are current challenges to manufacturing using machining. Efficient processing is being targeted and achieved through ongoing development in the fields of cutting materials, machine tools and materials.
